It doesn't get much more refreshing than a ice-cold glass of homemade lemonade. I made this recipe on a very hot summers day here in the UK when my wife and I were heading off on an adventure to Kielder Forest for a hike. This drink is so refreshing and is sure to keep you hydrated on your adventures.

A dotted underline means the amount has been rounded to something you can measure.

Method

  1. Step 1

Start by cutting 1 lemon (2) and the orange (1) in half.

  2. Step 2

Squeeze the juice of both the lemon (2) and orange (1) into a large jug.

  3. Step 3

Next fill the jug with sparkling water (1 l).

  4. Step 4

Then add sugar (1 tbsp) to your taste and mix. I recommend 1-2 tablespoons will be enough.

  5. Step 5

Slice some extra lemon (2) and add a couple of slices to your drinking bottles or glass along with a couple of sprigs of mint (4 mint).

  6. Step 6

Top your bottles or glass up with the drink and enjoy.

Questions people ask

How many does it serve, and can I change that?

As written it serves 1. Use the scale control on the recipe card to change it: every quantity in the ingredients and inside the method steps updates with it. Seasoning, and anything measured in pinches or splashes, is deliberately left alone.

Can I see the ingredients in ounces and pints?

Yes. The metric and imperial switch on the recipe card converts every quantity, rounded to amounts you can actually weigh or measure rather than to four decimal places. Your choice is remembered for every recipe on the site.

Is it vegan?

Yes, as written. Check the labels on anything shop-bought, which is where animal products tend to hide.
